Is the press honest?

Honest? Truthful? Fair?
Is the British press doing a good job?

Calderdale NUJ is hosting a public meeting on Tuesday 9 May to discuss press standards.
We have two guest speakers:
Chris Frost, professor of journalism at Liverpool John Moores University, and chair of the NUJ ethics council;
and Campbell Malone, a solicitor with a national reputation for investigating and challenging miscarriages of justice, notably the wrongful murder conviction of Stefan Kiszko, often in the face of presss hostility.
The meeting is free and open to all, and will be held in the upstairs meeting room of the White Lion, Hebden Bridge, from 7.30pm on Tuesday 9 May.

We're also holding an informal branch meeting on Monday 24 April, in the bar area of the White Lion, from 7.30. Branch secretary Andrew Bibby will report back from the union ADM, including details on the progress of the motions proposed by Calderdale branch. Congratulations are also due to Andrew for his election as freelance representative to the NUJ Ethics Council - come along on Monday and raise a glass!
